Convenient Bedroom Furniture

The thing about nightstands is that people hardly notice them except when they need a table to put some things on. It is only then when they have the satisfaction of putting things on top of a night table that people appreciate the serviceability of nightstands. There are many kinds of nightstands being sold in furniture shops and they are usually considered minor furniture because they are just small inexpensive items. Actually nightstands are night tables or bedside tables usually found in the bedroom near the bed or in any convenient spot in the bedroom.

Most of these tables are made of wood since a lot of them have drawers where one can temporarily store and keep within easy reach items like socks, wallets, cell phones, medicine bottles, books, alarm clock, and other things that one might need during the night, before going to sleep or after waking up. The best place to put the slippers is always under the bed but some prefer to keep them under nightstands where they are easier to locate.

The usual furniture set-up in a bedroom is that there is one large bed in between the two small bedroom nightstands. For couples occupying the bed, each of them uses the bedside table on his or her side of the bed. As a matter of fact, the husband and the wife always stay on their chosen sides of the matrimonial bed. There is no argument on this usual practice although there is still a big debate as to who is the more insistent one in imposing the sleeping arrangement. Nightstands are usually the places where things are kept by the bed occupants before going to sleep and to be retrieved by them once they wake up. Read More...

Preparing for Visitors When Planning a Home Celebration

Hosting a celebration often gives homeowners a wake-up call regarding the condition of their house. When the idea of having friends or family over for a graduation party, family reunion, wedding reception or anniversary celebration may sound like fun, the reality of the home's condition may put a damper on the festivities. There are several honey-do projects that have been neglected or pushed off for lack of time or skill that must now be completed before a swarm of friends, relatives and strangers descend upon the house for a celebration. Undertaking the do-it-yourself project is one option, or hiring professional handyman services is another. These are some of the interior projects that the homeowner or professional handyman may need to complete so that the home is presentable to guests and does not cause the household any embarrassment.

Bathrooms
The bathroom is one of the most noticed but least discussed rooms in the home. Old tiles and fixtures that show discoloring or wear can make the bathroom look dirty. Redoing caulking and grout will help make it look cleaner. Another option is to have it painted or to upgrade or repair the cabinetry and countertops. When minor damage has occurred from splashing or standing water or moisture, the drywall and plaster can be repaired and painted to cover up any blemishes.

Living Rooms
Living rooms can quickly become one of the most cluttered rooms in the home. Piled up books, knickknacks and photos can give the room a disorganized look. The creation of shelves or installation of a mantel will give the homeowner a place to put keepsakes and mementos that should be proudly displayed for guests to see. Some handyman services offer skilled carpentry and craftsmanship to create custom designs and decor. Moulding and trim repair can also be done to improve the elegance and sophistication of the living room. Read More...

Platform Beds Suit A Modern Trendy Bedroom Decor

When you see newspaper and magazine pictures of wonderfully elegant bedrooms, you may wish to have the same style in your home too. However, your bedroom maybe too small to have walk-in closets, huge windows overlooking a garden and big canopy beds. Yet the key to achieving a stylish look in your own small bedroom is to think around the space constraints and be innovative. Now, you can have a clutter free, cool looking bedroom by using beds.

A meticulous person would want everything to have a specific storage place and storage beds help you achieve that. Most people with kids and an apartment are always running short of space to store stuff. Apartments come with box rooms for storage but they do not have cellars or lofts where extra stuff can be stored. This is where the need to optimize space occurs. With this in mind, furniture designers started innovating with platform beds - originally used on ships - to suit landlubbers too.

If you have a huge bedroom, you can have low level platform beds that do not require storage space under them. However, most people when shopping for platform beds will ask for ones that have a storage space under it. They can go in for ones that come with attached drawers, drawers on wheels that can be rolled in and out or just get a high bed that allows you to keep suitcases or boxes under them. Some platform beds even come with the facility of having a box like device inside the frame. The bed will have to be lifted and the storage space accessed. Read More...
